About Barb Brown:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona and certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association, the Arizona Marriage and Family Association, the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) International Association, Alumni of Chi Sigma Iota-Academic and Professional Counseling Honor Society International.
I received my AA degree from Phoenix Community College in paralegal studies, my BS degree from University of Phoenix in Business Marketing, and my Masters of Counseling degree also from University of Phoenix with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have real-life experience with the emotions and challenges that plague many of us that endure relationship issues, marriage, verbal and physical abuse, divorce, single parenting, remarriage/blended families, work, school, home life, and grandkids.  In addition, I have owned and operated two successful small businesses and provide coaching to other executives.

I believe in giving back to my community and I have participated in numerous philanthropy events in the Valley to help those less fortunate, or those who have experienced devastation in life. When the Katrina disaster happened in 2005, I organized a committee known as “Ocotillo Families helping Katrina Families committee,” and served as chairperson of that committee. I was responsible for organizing the members and community minded individuals in assisting families of the Katrina National Disaster. I have served as a court Mediator in small claims courts, and being a domestic violence survivor myself, I volunteered my time to the Arizona Foundation for Women, Speakers Bureau, as a liaison to help raise funds for domestic violence victims, sexual abuse victims, and teenage pregnancy.

My background in the counseling profession includes extensive work in outpatient settings where I facilitate individual, couples and group work. My personal and academic in-depth experience provides me with a deeper understanding of “being where the client is” and includes areas of specialization such as: Relationship Issues, Divorce, Self Esteem, Boundaries, Family of Origin issues, Addictions, Trauma, and Life Coaching.
